30 June 2015

I am so excited to be in the company of these incredible writers during the summer writing about the understanding and the contradictions of the world through their literary eyes with focus on what they thought about the wars in Europe.

I would like to start my research with Evelyn Waugh's friendship with Nancy Mitford. Selina Hastings recently gave a talk on this topic and I asked her if she would be so kind to spare some time to meet with me. She accepted, which made me very happy. Before I see her I would like to read (again) her biography of Evelyn Waugh and Nancy Mitford. I also like the style of her website http://www.selinahastings.com/

I am also reading Henry Green's (the nom de plume of Henry Vincent Yorke) (1905-1973), Park My Bag, 1940, an autobiography written just before the Second World War. It clearly has with a stylistic impact.
